next gen image types
trying to speed up the mobile sites load times and google page speed is suggesting saving the images as next gen image types like, "JPEG 2000, JPEG XR, and WebP" these image types are not supported by the file manager is it possible to update this? would be useful for everyone to improve mobile load times

Jean-lucThis is very important to get implemented quickly. Its asked for by Google now and will also help with server load so win win. It shouldn't be a hard project to implement either our TV network implemented the change to server side integration and interface implementation within 3 hours or work and a planning stage of 1 week.

Shaun McgroartyWould be a good idea as Google is advising this is the format images should be in.

Sharon NormanThis is something we have all seen in Search Console Web Vitals. If you save the image as a JPEG with 70% quality then google doesn't seem to moan. It is the background Javascript it moans about but all of it is functional. Google is pushing something that is going to be impossible for websites to implement. Interestingly I tested the Google My Business page with page speed insights and it failed.

Dauwalders of SalisburyGoogle make suggestions based on a very biased algorithm written by them. They do have some good points but their suggestions are merely just that, suggestions, not the norm! We used to follow their guidelines for running a better website, however we spent far too much time implementing what google suggested, thinking it would make everything better, but we ended up chasing our own tails with code changes, to the extent of compressing and compiling, some things just need to be left as they are! No up vote from us
